Profil
The Curraj i Epërm camping is located in the heart of Albanian Alps, in a zone not accessible by car, which makes it an ideal location for active tourists, backpackers and hikers alike. The village is surrounded by mountains up … to 2500 m high, it is connected to the surrounding points of interest like Theth, Valbona or Koman lake by a network of more than 100 km of marked hiking trails ( http://albanianchallenge.org/en/maps ) and offers authentic experience of the true nothern Albanian culture and countryside, without electricity, and other disturbing elements: Enjoy home products from the local farms (cheese, milk, honey, meat, Albanian specialities) - all straight from the local people (no reselling) Have a rest in one of the most stranded villages in the Albanian north, swim in the river, get to know the cultural herritage or climb the unnamed peaks that surround the whole valley Hike and discover around the village and see unexplored caves, waterfalls and abandoned villages and houses Everyone you will meet here (including the locals :) had to go through the same trails as you did, or even a more demanding one (in other words: meet other active tourists!)

The camp can be approached only by foot (there are no roads for cars to Curraj i Epërm), which makes it an ideal point of interest for active tourist and hikers, who want to enjoy untouched nature and true atmosphere … of the Albanian north. After visiting Curraj, it is possible to take a trail to Valbonë or Theth, or the other way around (the two best-known tourist locations in the Albanian Alps, both accessible by car). The recommended route to get to our camp is following: From Shkodër, travel to Koman (by a furgon or your own car, which you can leave in a camp there for a small fee). From Koman, take a ferry to Markaj port (which is where the marked red trail to Curraj i Epërm begins). From Markaj, the whole route is densely marked, has about 15 km and mostly goes though mountainous terrain and forests. Follow the red marks (the very first part of the trail from Markaj consists of a small climb to the road above the lake and then approx. half an hour of walking by the road to Curraj i Poshtëm, where the road for cars ends and the main part of the hike begins. The whole route to the camp requires about 4 - 6 hours to be taken (depends on your physical state and training). You can find a detailed map and / or download it on the following link: http://albanianchallenge.org/en/maps/ . The second shortest route to the village is to travel by car from Kosovo through Gjakovë and Bajram Curri, to Curraj i Poshtëm, where it is possible to leave your car in the guarded complex of the local hydropower station. Not far from there, you can spend a night in Guesthouse Chehaja (Qehaja), or head directly to Curraj i Epërm using the marked red hiking trail.
